WHY EVERY KID SHOULD LEARN PUBLIC SPEAKING

Why Every Kid Should Learn Public Speaking?

Oh! I wish I started ballet when I was younger!

Oh! Why didn’t I join a drama class earlier?

Oh no! I should have learned to swim when I had the chance!

Yes. We often hear people saying this. Or perhaps we say these words ourselves.

The truth is; it is always good to learn any skill at a young age. When we were children, we were fast learner and have better memory than we do today. But we usually wait until we are older to learn a skill. Maybe we were just unlucky. We didn’t get the opportunity to learn the skills when we were small.

Do you have kids? Do you know any kids? Maybe your line of job involves kids? Maybe your next door neighbours have kids?

Kids are fascinating little people. They are playful, adorable, and energetic. And they are always curious too. I have two of my own and I adore them very much. Believe me, sometimes they ask too many questions. ;)

This is the right time to teach them useful skills that shall benefit them one day. An early exposure to certain skills like public speaking will make a big difference in their life.

Teach them public speaking skills at an early age. With the way the world is changing now, kids need the abilities to communicate and express themselves which are essential for their well-being. Teach them how to speak before it is too late.

So, why every kid in this world should learn public speaking?

1) Boost up their confidence level and self-esteem

Kids are shy creatures. They need some assurance, motivation and encouragement. In order to speak in front of people, you ought to have self-confidence. It takes great courage to open up your mouth to speak when all eyes are looking straight at you. By doing public speaking, kids will learn to trust themselves and become brave enough to speak their mind. As they grow up, they will possess self-confidence and high self-esteem.

2) Build up positive personality and attitude

Delivering a speech is not only about the act of speaking in front of people. It is more than that. Giving a speech is about getting valuable messages across to your audience and giving beneficial information to people. It is also about hard work, determination and being passionate about something that you believe in. Public speaking skills will definitely give positive impact to the kids’ personality and attitude in the long run.

3) Develop Critical thinking

Critical thinking is an important skill where you must evaluate and analyse information or situation. Kids need to develop critical thinking skills which will help them in their future. Public speaking skills teach them to think on their own and believe in their decisions. By doing public speaking, kids can learn to be more observant of the things happening around them and be aware of major issues like looking after the environment or saving the animals. They will learn to ask questions, searching for answers, finding solutions to problems and talking about it.

4) Improve communication skills

I admit. High technology, gadgets, devices and social media are making our life a lot easier. However, there must be a balance. Humans still need to communicate directly with other humans. All kids of our future generation must not be deprived of the skill to speak. Public speaking skills encourage kids to build up self-expression and help them in expressing ideas. Public speaking will also help them to improve their writing and language skills.

5) Develop leadership skills

A leader is someone who can lead and command others. Will you follow a leader who does not know how to talk to his or her followers? A leader should manage to communicate effectively with others. He or she must be able to inspire, encourage and motivate others. A good leader must know how to speak up. Kids who learn public speaking skills will develop good leadership skills.

So there you have it… 5 obvious reasons why every kid must learn public speaking.

Public speaking skills are what every kid needs to learn nowadays. If they learn public speaking skills at a young age, they will overcome their fear to speak in public. By the time they become an adult, they will be comfortable speaking in front of an audience.

Can you imagine what this can do for them? They will not have many difficulties to do presentations in school, colleges, and universities or at work. This shall assist them in their studies, education, career and future undertakings.

It is not just about developing the public speaking skills among these kids. But the most important of all is helping them to grow into a self-confident person who has the courage to speak up. They will grow up and becoming someone who is a positive communicator and a good leader.

Sometimes I wish I had the chance to learn public speaking skills much earlier. I learned to speak in front of people for the first time when I was in school. But I learned the skills step by step and by experience. Well, those days were different. There was not much information available back then. There were no blogs or article to read online.

If you have kids, teach them how to speak.Teach them how to communicate. Teach them how to face their fear. Teach them to believe in themselves. Teach them to be optimistic. Teach them to think critically and take positive action. Teach them about spreading kindness, sharing essential information and incredible ideas with other people.
