I just love quotes! I have always been intrigued by wise words written or spoken by anyone. I find quotes interesting, inspiring and uplifting.

I enjoy reading quotes during my free time. And along the way, I found some brilliant ones. Here are some great quotes that I wish to share with you which are relevant to public speaking. I hope you love these quotes as much as I do :)

1) This one is simply brilliant and amusing at the same time. I totally can relate to this.

A wise man speaks because he has something to say. In public speaking, it is always important to know why you wish to speak in the first place. There must be a reason, a purpose and meaning in giving a speech or delivering a presentation. There must be some content, substance and message in what you are saying. And a fool will speak because he has to say something…even if he has no significant points to make.

2) ….”People will never forget how you make them feel”…this quote is about making connection. When you deliver a speech, it is always about the audience. If you are not able to connect emotionally with your audience, you will not be able to inspire, persuade and motivate them. 

Your audience will forget the data, numbers and information you have given them after a while. However, if you touched their hearts and make them feel their emotions, they will always remember you and the message you shared. Your speech shall be unforgettable.

3) I love this quote. It is about facing your fear of public speaking and challenges yourself to speak. Yes, you will be nervous every time you start speaking. But being nervous is practically normal. 

Having fear is just being human. Feel the fear and face it. Just go through it and get it over with. You will never know until you try. At times in life, you have to take some risks. Ignore those uncertain feelings, avoid making assumptions about what might happen, have faith and just do it!

4) Speak from the heart…I always believe in this. Speaking from the heart is as if there is a bridge connecting from one side to the other. It creates understanding; encourages burning passion and build connections between people. 

The message from your heart is genuine and real. By speaking from the heart, your audience can sense your honesty and sincerity. They will trust you and moved by you. Remember, emotion is a powerful thing.

5) This quote reminds me of myself. I still remember the first time I spoke in front of an audience. I was terrified! I wasn’t very good either. But as time passes by and with lots of practice, I slowly gain my self-confidence and become a much better speaker.

It takes time to be good at something. It takes time to learn a skill. Nothing comes easy in life. You have to work at it no matter what. Nothing happens overnight. Unless if you have magical powers that is…do you?


These quotes are amazing; made by truly amazing people. There are actually many other quotes that I like. But there are too many that I may need to create another blog for all the favourite quotes. Thus I have decided to choose only five. I came up with my own interpretation of the quotes. Nevertheless, everyone has their own definition or so called ‘diagnosis’

WHAT MAKES GOOD SPEECH CONTENT?

Have you ever asked yourself these questions? Why do you listen to speeches? Are you bored and you have nothing else to do? Do you have this weird habit of listening to people talking? Or maybe you are being forced to listen to these presentations by your bosses? My guess is; you listen to speeches because you want to learn something from these speakers. You want to get valuable information. In other words, you are looking for great speech content. Of course, listening to a speaker with good sense of humour may lighten up your day.
